United States (US) International Trade in Goods and Services with India
In 2017, U.S. exports of goods and services to India were $49.5 billion, up 17.0% from 2016, and imports from India were $76.8 billion, up 6.8% from 2016. As a result, the trade deficit with India decreased to $27.4 billion.
In 2017, exports to India accounted for 2.1% of total U.S. exports, and imports from India accounted for 2.6% of total U.S. imports. Exports were led by travel services, which accounted for 27.0% of U.S. exports to India, and imports were led by consumer goods (excluding food and automotive), which accounted for 35.2% of U.S. imports from India.

In 2016, India-based majority-owned affiliates of U.S. Multinational Enterprises (MNEs) employed 1.22 million people, an increase of 7.2% from 2015; sales were $83.3 billion, up 5.3%. U.S.-based majority-owned affiliates of Indian MNEs employed 56.5 thousand people in 2015, an increase of 8.7% from the previous year; sales were $27.8 billion, up 7.9%.
