Jim Acosta CNN's Chief White House Correspondent

Abilio James "Jim" Acosta was born on April 17, 1971 form refugee parents. His father was a refugee from Cuba and his mother is of Irish and Czech ancestry. Acosta graduated from Annandale High School, a public senior high in Annandale, Virginia, in 1989. In 1993, he earned a bachelor's degree in mass communication, with a minor in political science, from James Madison University. After various media job, Acosta joined CNN in April 2007. On January 9, 2018, he was appointed as the chief White House correspondent by CNN. In 2016, he pressed the Cuban president on his country's human rights record. Later, he had some verbal argument with various Trump administration officials. On November 7, 2018, he sparred with President Trump during a White House press conference which led to the suspension of his White House press pass. Judge orders White House to return Jim Acosta's press pass

CNN's Jim Acosta will return to his post at the White House on Friday following a court ruling that forced the Trump administration to reinstate his press pass. The ruling by federal judge Timothy J. Kelly (Judge Kelly) was an initial victory for CNN in its lawsuit against President Trump and several top aides. The suit alleges that CNN and Acosta's First and Fifth Amendment rights were violated by last week's suspension of his press pass. Kelly did not rule on the underlying case on Friday. But he granted CNN's request for a temporary restraining order. And he said he believes that CNN and Acosta are likely to prevail in the case overall. Speaking outside the court, Ted Boutrous, an outside attorney representing CNN, said: "this is a great day for the First Amendment and journalism."
