John Richard Kasich Jr.: Governor Kasich

Republican Governor of Ohio and former 2016 presidential candidate.

Biography from his own website:

Governor Kasich has led Ohio's comeback. Working with his fellow Ohioans he turned an $8 billion shortfall into a $2 billion surplus, cut taxes by $5 billion and has made Ohio one of the top job-creating states in the nation with over 460,000 new jobs.

As a Congressman, John Kasich was a chief architect of the last federal balanced budget. As chair of the House Budget Committee, he led the effort to balance the federal budget for the first time since man walked on the moon. He also served 18 years on the House Armed Services Committee where he was a strong ally of President Reagan and his national security agenda. Governor Kasich remains one of the strongest advocates for a federal balanced budget amendment.

He has also had a successful career as an investment banker, New York Times best-selling author and hosted his own show on Fox News.

The governor is originally from McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, a blue-collar town outside Pittsburgh where his father delivered mail for 30 years. He and his wife Karen have twin teenage daughters.
